It has been reported by several news agencies that the IRS is close to finalizing an agreement with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to share information that has previously been kept confidential and not shared with Immigration enforcement agencies in the past.
The agreement would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement to submit names and addresses of people it suspects to be living in the country illegally to the IRS, and the tax agency would cross-reference this information and confirm ICE records.
The IRS has previously assured undocumented immigrants that their information would not be shared with Immigration authorities or lead to their deportations, so should this agreement become effective it further evidences the extreme changes being made by this administration.
